BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council V.S. Ugrappa on Tuesday charged the B.S. Yeddyurappa government of utilising only Rs. 12,862 crore of the Rs. 25,181 crore funds allocated in the budget during 2008-09, leaving Rs. 12,319 crore to be spent before March 31. Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Ugrappa said that this was ample evidence to call bluff the tall claim of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Mr. Yeddyurappa that they were serious about developing the State. Though the revenue mobilisation fell short by Rs. 3,869 crore (it mobilised Rs. 25,181 crore as against the target of Rs. 29,050 crore), the government failed to spend even that much of the funds available to it, he said. He called it financial anarchy. Mr. Ugrappa wondered whether Mr. Yeddyurappa had a magic wand to spend the unutilised funds within the next few days. Demanding a white paper on the financial position and failure to utilise funds allocated in the budget, he said that the authorities responsible for it should be dealt with seriously.
