Gurunathan, Rahul star for Sri Krishna CAS

Coimbatore: A fine knock of 92 by Gurunathan enabled Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science score a facile 154-run win over Dr. GRD College in the SNR Ever Rolling Trophy inter-collegiate cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here on Tuesday.

After posting 243 for three in its allotted 25 overs, Sri Krishna, thanks to Rahul (four for 10), bundled out its opponent for paltry 89 in a shade less than 21 overs.

The scores:

SRKV 152 for eight in 25 overs (Karthikeyan 32, Mybin Vincent three for 22) bt CMS 137 for nine in 25 overs (Vishnu Prasad 37, N.K. Mohan 34, Karthikeyan four for 25); Sri Krishna CAS 243 for three in 25 overs (Gurunathan 92, Kirubashankar 32, Arun Thomas 50) bt Dr. GRD 89 in 20.5 overs (Dilip Balaji 31, Rahul four for 10).

PSG CP lifts title

PSG College of Pharmacy scored a six-wicket win over Karpagam College of Pharmacy in the final of the regional level inter-pharmacy cricket tournament at the PSG IMSR grounds on Tuesday.

The results: Cricket: Final: PSG CP 125 bt Karpagam 126 for four. Football: KMCH CP bt Cherrans CP 5-3 via tie-breaker.

Karpagam wins thriller

Karpagam College of Engineering (Coimbatore) edged out Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (Pollachi) 5-4 via the tie-breaker in a league match of the Anna University first zonal level football tournament at the Government College of Technology grounds on Monday.

Double for Kongu EC

At Perundurai, host Kongu Engineering College clinched the volleyball title for men and women in the first Anna University zonal level tournament at the Kongu courts recently.

Earlier, Kumaraguru College of Technology (Coimbatore) notched up a 68-38 win over Kongu Engineering College to take the men’s basketball title.

The results:

Men: Volleyball: Final: Kongu EC (Perundurai) bt TCE 25-22, 25-16. Third place: PSG Tech bt CIT 25-21, 25-16.

Basketball: Final: KCT 68 bt Kongu EC 39. Third place: CIEIT 43 bt CIT 38.

Women: Volleyball: Final: Kongu EC bt Angel CE (Tirupur) 25-9, 25-18. Third place: KCT bt GCT 25-11, 25-12.
Cricket camp

At Krishnagiri, the Krishnagiri District Cricket Association will conduct a summer camp for boys in the 10 to 19 age group at the Adhiyamaan Engineering College grounds in Hosur and the Government Polytechnic grounds from April 20 to May 12.
