Unfortunate

The verbal exchange between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani — Dr. Singh questioning Mr. Advani’s track record as Home Minister and the BJP leader terming Dr. Singh the “weakest Prime Minister” — is unfortunate. Their attempts to damage each other’s credibility obfuscate the real issues. We need disciplined and meaningful election campaigns so that the voter can make the right choice.

Syed Khaja,

New Delhi

The Prime Minister and the Prime Minister-in-waiting should behave more responsibly, instead of accusing each other like school boys. They should address people’s issues such as unemployment, sanitation, and access to drinking water for all.

V. Vijayendra Rao,

Neyveli

Mr. Advani, besides telling Dr. Singh about his track record as Home Minister, should also explain his performance as the Leader of the Opposition instead of repeating ad nauseam that Dr. Singh is the weakest Prime Minister India has seen. If Mr. Advani wants the voters to believe that he can make a “strong” Prime Minister, he can convince them by producing his track record.

P.P. Sudhakaran,

Bangalore
