Permission denied for Advani meeting

LUCKNOW: The Azamgarh district administration has denied permission for a March 28 public meeting where BJP leader L.K. Advani was to speak at the sports stadium, Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Umesh Sinha said here on Wednesday.

The Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP accused the Bahujan Samaj Party government of placing obstacles in party’s campaign.

BJP spokesman Hridaya Narain Dixit charged the district administration with working on the directions of the State government. He alleged that the administration was misusing the powers vested in it under the model code of conduct.

Mr. Dixit said the administration did not allow BJP leader Kalraj Mishra’s helicopter to land.
