The first step: UDF candidate for the Idukki Lok Sabha seat P.T. Thomas handing over his nomination papers to District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh on Thursday. KATTAPPANA: UDF candidate P.T. Thomas submitted his nomination papers before District Collector Ashok Kumar Singh on Thursday. Mr. Thomas accompanied by Kerala Congress (M) district president Alex Kozhimala, Indian Union Muslim League district president T.M. Salim, Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader Johny Nellore and AICC secretary E.M. Augusthy reached the district collectorate in Painau at 12.10 p.m. and handed over the nomination papers. Reception givenRoshy Augustine, MLA, also accompanied Mr. Thomas. Before moving to the collectorate, Mr. Thomas was given a reception at Cheruthoni and he garlanded the statue of Kolumban, the tribal leader known for identifying the spot to set up the Idukki dam. In the afternoon, Mr. Thomas campaigned in the Idukki Assembly seat and in the coming days his campaign will be in the High Range areas of the Lok Sabha constituency.
