Gopinath to contest from Bangalore

Bangalore: Capt. G.R. Gopinath, founder of Air Deccan, has positioned himself on the political runway. his pioneer of low-cost airlines in India is readying to take off into electoral politics after a long hiatus.
Bangalore South or Bangalore Central, with their large educated migrant population, could be his destination, an announcement to be made known in a day or two.
“The decision to contest the elections as an independent is borne out of my pain after the Mumbai terror attack. Many incidents of communal intolerance in Karnataka have also pained me,” Capt. Gopinath told presspersons here on Thursday. “I know fighting the elections is not easy. It is difficult to win and chances of losing are more. I am not going there to lose, but I am going to fight. I hope I will inspire a large number of educated youth,” he said.
