Hungama, an entertainment portal offers audio and video music besides gaming facilities Live Tutor is a tutor service for students within the country and abroad through Indian tutors HYDERABAD: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Friday launched ‘Live Tutor’ and ‘Hungama’ services, the latter on a free of cost basis for one month for BSNL broadband customers all over the country. The occasion marked the commercial launch of Live Tutor but the BSNL aimed to do so for Hungama shortly. The ‘Hungama’ is a digital entertainment portal which will offer audio and video music besides gaming facilities to customers. RentalsWith a monthly rental of Rs.149, the subscribers would have unlimited access to over 50,000 audio songs, 1,000 video music and 600 games that are available in BSNL library. The ‘Live Tutoring’ is a personalised tutor service to students within the country and abroad through Indian tutors located anywhere in the country. The services will be available at any time anywhere basis. The charges per session varied from Rs. 50 to 240 depending on the class and type of teachers availed. Launching the twin services, BSNL Director (Planning and New Services) Rakesh Kumar Agarwal said the telecom service provider would soon shift to new generation soft switches for voice, video, messaging, data, multi-media and location based services. The BSNL was evaluating the six bids that were received and it would place order for procurement of material in one-and-a-half months. About one million lines were proposed in 2009-10. Mr. Agarwal also said the BSNL would launch 3G mobile and wireless services in the southern cities in two or three months. The services were presently confined to 12 cities elsewhere in the country. The equipment for expansion of 3G services would arrive in a couple of weeks. He added that the BSNL had a share of 56 per cent in five million broadband connections all over the country. Anil Jain, General Manager (Broadband), BSNL, said the BSNL would launch video surveillance in business premises with cameras for customers running security risks. It would also experiment broadband on cable television. T.N. Sudhindra Kumar, Chief General Manager of BSNL, Andhra Pradesh, said there were 2.6 lakh broadband customers of BSNL in the State.
