Prison inmates screened for tuberculosis

TIRUCHI: A tuberculosis screening camp was held at the Central Prison here on Thursday. The camp was organised in connection with the World Tuberculosis Day.

A medical team screened as many as 77 inmates during the camp that lasted nearly four hours.

Samples sent

Prison authorities said the sputum samples of all convicts and suspected cases of remand prisoners were being sent to the tuberculosis centre here.

The Deputy Director, Medical Health Services (Tuberculosis), Abdul Samad, Superintendent of Prison, Central Prison, Tiruchi A. Murugesan and other officials participated in the screening camp.
