KADAPA: Only two candidates filed nomination papers in Kadapa district on the first day of receipt of nominations on Saturday for the second phase of general elections slated on April 23. Sitting Telugu Desam Party MLA Sugavasi Palakondarayudu filed nomination for Rayachoti Assembly constituency and a TDP-sponsored candidate filed his papers for Kadapa Assembly constituency on Saturday. Mr. Palakondarayudu filed two sets of nomination papers in the office of returning officer of Rayachoti Assembly constituency B. Easwaraiah (Special Deputy Collector of Veligallu project) at Rayachoti. S. Arifullah, a candidate ‘affiliated’ to TDP, filed his papers in the office of returning officer P. Ranjit Basha (Kadapa RDO) in Kadapa. No nomination was filed for either Kadapa or Rajampet parliamentary constituencies. Nominations will not be received on March 29, Sunday, and on April 1, which was declared as a public holiday as per Negotiable Instruments Act. However, nominations would be received on April 4, Sri Rama Navami festival, as it was not declared a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, according to officials.
