CHENNAI: Boiler drum lifting, a major activity in the setting up of the first stage of the Vallur Thermal Power Plant, is scheduled for April 30.
The main plant package for stage-1 was awarded on August 13, 2007 to BHEL, which has commenced work. Erection of the boiler column began on January 5 this year. Civil works for chimney and main plant are progressing at a fast pace, according to a TNEB release. The 3 X 500 MW project is being executed by NTECL, a joint venture company formed by the NTPC and TNEB. Tamil Nadu will get 75 per cent of the power produced from the project as its share.
