IUML to contest for eight seats

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Karnataka State unit of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is contesting eight Lok Sabha seats and will support “secular” candidates in the remaining 20 seats.

State unit president Mirza Mohammed Mehdi told presspersons here on Saturday that they would not consider any alliance or party, other than the BJP, as “untouchables”. The party is contesting from Bangalore South, Bangalore Rural, Mysore, Shimoga, Dakshin Kannada, Dharwad, Gulbarga and Bidar. He said the law and order situation in Karnataka during the BJP rule had left the Muslims feeling insecure.
