VISAKHAPATNAM: The Academic Senate of Andhra University on Saturday discussed the lack of financial support from the State Government and Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana hoped a part of the block grant would be released during April. The university had sought the State Government to release Rs. 41.94 crores, which included the block grant of Rs.40.72 crores of third and fourth quarters and Rs. 1.22 crores towards tuition fee refund. Former Vice-Chancellor Koneru Ramakrishna Rao regretted that the university had not been able to secure the required grants for the last few years. Prof. Satyanarayana said the government was citing its own problems to release grants and hoped at least a part of it would be released next month. The Academic Senate gave its approval to the new courses, changes in syllabi and other academic matters of the agenda. Rector B. Parvatheeswara Rao, Registrar P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy, Principals of campus colleges and others Senate members were present.
