Booklet on Tirumala Nambi released

CHENNAI: A booklet on Acharya Tirumala Nambi, the maternal uncle and a source of inspiration for Saint Ramanuja, the Vaishnavite philosopher, was released by Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashram, here on Sunday.

The event was organised by Tirumala Nambi Sri Venkateswara Kainkarya and Charitable Trust and Tirumala Nambi Charities.

In order to spread awareness about Acharya Tirumala Nambi and his connection with Saint Ramanuja, this booklet was conceived, said T.K. Seshadri, managing trustee of the charitable trust. The booklet is available in seven languages – English, Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Tirumala Nambi lived in Tirumala hills, where the Venkateswara temple is situated. His predecessors include the Nathamunigal, who discovered the ‘Nalayira Divya Prabhandham,’ sung by Alwars, the Vaishnavite saints.

He initiated Saint Ramanuja to the 18 secrets of the Ramayana and is considered the first Acharya of Saint Ramanuja.

A CD titled “18 Rahasyams of Ramayana” was released during the function.

The booklet is available free of cost at 195, Lloyds Road, Chennai– 86 and the CD, priced at Rs.100, is available at 16, Devanathan Colony, West Mambalam, Chennai– 33.
