With a fruitful history of more than 9 decades, SCDCC Bank which started functioning from 24.1.1914 at Puttur, has come a long way spear heading the co-operative movement helping farmers, weavers and toilers alike progress in life. Recognised as Coastal Karnataka’s premier Co-operative Bank, it has won innumerable awards, the latest being the State award presented by the Karnataka State Co-operative Department. Under the able stewardship of its President, M N Rajendra Kumar, SCDCC Bank has made progress in leaps and bounds. More than 50 branches with business increasing nearly threefold having been the achievements of the Bank under Mr Rajendra Kumar’s leadership. The bank also holds the national record of full loan recovery consecutively for the past 12 years. The Bank has also financed Self Help Groups at low rates of interest. All the branches have been computerized, while single window clearance has been adopted in most of the branches. The Kodialbail branch of the Bank is a ‘role-model’ of the organisation working from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Having ATM facility, the branch has the distinction as the first Co-operative Bank to offer this service. The ‘Mobile Banking Service’ the first of its kind in the country is also the initiative of the SCCDC Bank. The fact that under the leadership of M N Rajendra Kumar, the Bank has bagged the award presented by the State Apex Bank for the last consecutive 7 years speaks volumes of its commitment to the co-operative movement.
