SNR Sons, SRKV set up title clash

Coimbatore: A brilliant all-round performance by the in-form R. Sundaramoorthy (81 not out & three for 12) enabled host SNR Sons College register a 37-run win over Government Arts College and enter the final of the SNR Ever Rolling Trophy inter-collegiate cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here on Monday.

In the title clash, SNR Sons will take on Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya (SRKV), which defeated favourite Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Maha Vidyalaya by two wickets.

The scores: Semifinals: Sri Jayendra Saraswathi 146 for four in 25 overs (Senthil Kumar 64, Abishek 33) lost to Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya 150 for eight in 21.3 overs (Prakash 48, Sathyaraj three for 27); SNR Sons 193 for three in 25 overs (R. Sundaramoorthy 81 not out, R. Arun Kumar 47) bt Government Arts 156 in 23.2 overs (Pradeep 49, Ashok Kumar three for 20, Sundaramoorthy three for 12).

Sugi steals show

Brijmohan Singh of Nandha College of Pharmacy and Sugi Pappa of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences clinched the individual championship for men and women respectively in the ‘Almidon 2009’ regional level inter-pharmacy meet, which concluded at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research on Sunday.

The results: Men: 100m: 1. Brijmohan Singh (Nandha); 2. Lakshman Prathap (PSG); 3. Sirajudeen (Cherraan). 200m: 1. Brijmohan Singh; 2. Lakshman Prathap; 3. Sirajudeen. 400m: 1. Sirajudeen; 2. Edwin Jose (KMCH); 3. Baskara Manikandan (JSS). 800m: 1. Baskara Manikandan; 2. Edwin Jose; 3. Rangasamy (Karpagam). 4x100m: 1. PSG; 2. Erode College of Pharmacy; 3. Sri Ramakrishna IPS. Shot put: 1. Shijin (Cherraan); 2. Arun Ravi Kumar (PSG); 3. Thej Kumar Reddy (Erode CP). Long jump: 1. Lakshman Prathap; 2. Brijmohan Singh; 3. Janardhan Reddy (Sri Ramakrishna IPS). Discus throw: 1.
