TIPS: Collector and Returning officer for Nagapattinam constituency M. Chandrasekaran explaining the functioning of an EVM to officials in Tiruvarur. TIRUVARUR: A total of 195 booths have been identified as ‘sensitive’ ones in Nagapattinam Lok Sabha constituency, according to M. Chandrasekaran, Collector, who is also the returning officer. Video cameras will be fitted to these booths and micro observers from central Government will monitor the proceedings, the Collector told presspersons here on Monday. He participated in the demonstration of electronic voting machines to revenue officials who were drafted for poll works. The Collector said that 25 per cent additional EVMs had been kept ready than required to supplement in case of a need. There are 1,210 polling booths in the constituency. The Collector also said that tahsildar, Inspector of Police and a videographer had been appointed for each of the seven taluks in the constituency to tour and find out any violation of election code of conduct prior to the polls. Gun licence holders surrendered 256 guns for safe custody till the completion of elections. Nagapattinam Lok Sabha seat consists of six Assembly segments i.e. Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Thiruthuraipoondi, Vedaranyam, Kilvelur (SC) and Nannilam.
