NEW DELHI: Suzlon Energy, the world’s fifth leading wind turbine maker, on Monday entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TERI University for offering an M. Tech programme in renewable energy engineering and management. The MoU will facilitate Suzlon Energy to contribute to the programme through exchange of ideas and expertise and guest faculty.

The aim of this degree programme is to produce engineering graduates who have a strong grounding in the renewable energy engineering subject and also equip them with a good understanding of the social and economic aspects of energy policy. Backed by an advisory committee consisting of a senior Suzlon executive, this programme will enable them to provide inputs to the curriculum, monitor the quality of the programme, determine and facilitate access to experimental facilities, equipment and oversee the proper conduct. Speaking about the initiative at a formal function here, Tulsi Tanti, Chairman and Managing Director, Suzlon Energy, said the company today was the evolving face of renewable energy. “By joining hands with TERI University, we clearly demonstrate our vision and commitment towards green energy. We are proud to extend our support to this course that will give birth to a young dynamic generation of engineers who will inherit the challenge of creating a sustainable future,” he added.

R. K. Pachauri, Chancellor, TERI University, and Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), said TERI University was a unique institution which was focussing on the challenges that humanity was facing today and would continue to face in the future, particularly in respect of unsustainable use of natural resources.
