CUTTACK: Cuttack city police is investigating into a house burglary case in which it is alleged that gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 7.5 lakh was looted after breaking open the house of one native in Tulasippur area of the city.

According to police, Babulal Behera, an assistant engineer of Irrigation Department has alleged that his house was burgled on Sunday night.

The burglars have looted gold jewellery of 350 gms and cash worth Rs 2.25 lakh by breaking open their locker while the inmates were sleeping, police said quoting the FIR filed by Behera.

Behera claims that he had kept the cash of his brother-in-law who has a cooking gas agency.

“Since I could not deposit the sale proceeds of the day in the bank on Saturday, I had kept around Rs. 2.10 lakh with my brother-in-law”, said Parthasarathi Behera of Sarathi gas agency. Police are now investigating the case.
