NIZAMABAD: Ninety six per cent of voters cast their votes in the MLC election from Local Authority Constituency, Nizamabad, held here on Monday. Out of the total of 706 voters, 680 voters cast their votes. Out of 36 mandals in the district, hundred per cent MPTC and ZPTC members from 25 mandals cast votes, while in the remaining mandals a little less number of members participated in the polling. From Jakranpally and Bheemgal mandals, as low as 50 per cent polling was recorded. The polling began on a dull note and by 2 p.m., 84 per cent of members used their franchise. At the end of the polling at 4 p.m., 96 per cent was recorded. Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas, Member of Parliament Madhu Goud Yaskhi, sitting MLC R. Venkatrami Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairman K. Venkatramana Reddy, Vice-Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan and Mayor D. Sanjay cast votes at Zilla Parishad Hall. Sitting MLC R. Venkatrami Reddy from Congress and Telugu Desam Party State secretary Arkala Narsa Reddy are testing their luck in this election. The counting of votes would be held on April 2. Elections peacefulSangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Elections to the Local Authority Constituency (LAC) of Medak district to the Legislative Council were held peacefully in the district on Monday. Contenders are sitting MLC V. Bhoopal Reddy of Congress and M. Raghunandana Rao of TRS. Out of the 844 voters of the LAC, 838 voters used their voting right. Counting will be held on April 2. Tight securityMahabubnagar Correspondent adds: Polling went off peacefully to the MLC election from Local Authority Constituency in Mahabubnagar district. According to reports received at the district headquarters, out of a total of 1,103 electorate, 1,074 (97.37 percent) voters have exercised their franchise. Congress nominee S. Jagadeeshwara Reddy, Grand Alliance candidate Vijaya Sarathi Reddy, BJP candidate Ramakrishna Reddy and Independent candidate Srinivas Bahaddur are in the fray.
