MADURAI: Members of the Hindu Temple Protection Committee have appealed to the district administration to declare April 8 as a local holiday in view of the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple kumbabishekam. According to Committee district president V. Ramakrishnan, the mahakumbabishekam is celebrated every 12 years. To enable people from different walks of life to seek blessings of the presiding deity, Goddess Meenakshi, the administration should declare April 8 as local holiday, he urged.
