Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM: Collector R. Palanisamy has directed all officials to accept applications for enrolment in the voter lists till April 13 .

Addressing a review meeting of polling officials here on Tuesday, Mr. Palanisamy said that he had been receiving information saying that in certain places, officials were turning down applications saying that the time for issuing Electors’ Photo Identity Cards was over. He said that the officials should accommodate prospective voters till April 13. The officials should get photographs of the prospective voters at the time of receiving applications to avoid delay in preparing the identity cards. Mr. Palanisamy instructed the officials to prepare a list of phone numbers of police stations in vicinity of polling stations and also the numbers of polling officials.
