Students’ talent comes to fore at Natyanjali

KARAIKAL: The students of Sri Nataraja Natya Vidyalaya in Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry exhibited their talents in the classical dance of bharathanatyam at the 14th annual Natyanjali vizha organised by the institution last week.

A.M.H.Nazeem, MLA (DMK) of Karaikal and also Leader of the Opposition in the Puducherry Assembly, who inaugurated the Natyanjali vizha, appreciated the talent of the students and distributed prizes.

P.R.Siva, MLA, R.Prabhavathy, chairperson of Karaikal municipality and other dignitaries attended the function.

S.Ramalingam, Director of Sri Nataraja Natya Vidyalaya said that as many as 130 students, most of them girls, were being taught classical dance in the Vidyalaya and they brought laurels by winning several competitions.

All the students performed Bharathanatyam for folk songs and Poet Bharathiyar songs in addition to the usual kritis in Carnatic music for about two and half hours and won the hearts of the audience.
