BBMP rakes it in crores

Bangalore: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Help Points worked extra hours on Tuesday as thousands lined up to pay property tax as it was the last day to avail themselves of the five per cent rebate.
According to BBMP officials, total tax collected since February 10 has now crossed Rs. 350 crore as it received over Rs. 40 crore on Tuesday alone. At least Rs. 10 crore each was collected in Mahadevapura, East and West zones on Tuesday.
Many commercial buildings have paid taxes in the range of Rs. 10 crore to Rs. 20 crore while availing the benefit of five per cent rebate thus saving lakhs of rupees.
