Auraiya MLA to be shifted to Jaunpur

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has sought permission from the Election Commission to shift Shekhar Tiwari, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Auraiya MLA and an accused in the PWD engineer murder case, and gangster Tribhuvan Singh to another jail.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Amrit Abhijat told reporters here that Tiwari would be shifted from the Etawah district jail to the Jaunpur district jail and Tribhuvan Singh from Varanasi to the Pilibhit district jail.

While the Election Commission gave the “no-objection” for shifting BJP’s Pilibhit candidate from Pilibhit to Etah, in the case of the other two, the Chief Electoral Officer was authorised to grant permission. Mr. Abhijat said the go-ahead to move Tiwari and Singh had been given and the compliance report was awaited.

Mr. Abhijat said the DM and the SP of Baghpat have been asked to send a joint report on the incident involving BSP MLA from Bulandshahr Guddu Pandit. Pandit, whose brother is the BSP candidate from Baghpat, is reported to have used aggressive language and threatened a police inspector. An FIR is likely to be lodged against Pandit.
