Moily is Congress candidate from Chickaballapur ‘BJP would even resort to bombings to get votes’ CHICKABALLAPUR: AICC Media Cell chairman M. Veerappa Moily on Wednesday came down on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani by linking him to former Gujarat Minister Maya Kodnani, who is an accused in the post-Godhra carnage. Addressing a Congress workers’ meeting here, Mr. Moily, who is the party’s candidate for the Chickaballapur constituency, said: “[Although] It is not correct to refer to a caste, Mr. Advani is a Sindhi. There is another Sindhi called Dr. Kodnani. Although she is a doctor by profession she was responsible for a bloodbath in Gujarat in which 58 people were murdered. She supplied weapons to the attackers. After making this Sindhi woman a Minister, Mr. Advani now wants to become the Prime Minister.” Mr. Moily said Mr. Advani had showered praises on Mohammed Ali Jinnah, who was responsible for the Partition that led to large-scale violence and deaths. “If Mr. Advani became the Prime Minister, India would become another Pakistan, Bangladesh or Burma,” he remarked. He said the BJP’s victory in north Karnataka during the 2008 Assembly elections was a result of the wave that emerged in favour of the party following a blast at a court in Hubli. The BJP blamed it on Islamic terror groups. Subsequently, the police investigations revealed that “Sangh Parivar” was behind the blast. The BJP would even resort to “bombings” to get votes, the Congress leader said.
