Ruby CC and Friends CC enter third round

KOLLAM: Ruby CC (Kollam) crushed Bluestar CC (Kollam) by 105 runs and entered the third round of the IPO Cricket Fest all-Kerala tournament at the Ashramom Maidan here on Thursday.

In another match, Friends CC (Kottarakkara) defeated Loyola Cricket Academy (Thiruvananthapuram) by four wickets to make it to the third round.

The scores: Ruby CC 231 for seven in 30 overs (Sinil Kumar 51) bt Blue Star CC 126 in 22.3 overs (Vishnu 42).

Loyola Cricket Academy 157 for seven in 30 overs (Renjith 77, Abdul Basit three for 23) lost to Friends CC 161 for six in 21.2 overs (Babu Sufi 38).

Masters CC in last eight

P.V. Manikandan’s dazzling century (116, 47b, 12x6, 7x4) helped Masters CC (Thiruvananthapuram) thrash Aluva CC by 113 runs and march to the quarterfinals of the third Muthoot Pappachan Foundation all-Kerala Twenty20 cricket tournament at the BPCL Kochi Refinery Ground, Ambalamugal, on Thursday.

Cordiant Sports Foundation defeated BPCL Kochi Refinery Cricket Academy by three wickets and entered the semifinals, Local side Pattara Swantons crushed Muthoot Cricket Academy by eight wickets and progressed to the quarterfinals.

The scores: Quarterfinals: BPCL Kochi Refinery Cricket Academy (Ambalamugal) 108 for seven in 20 overs (P.M. Jineesh 37, Manu Krishnan three for 16) lost to Cordiant Sports Foundation (Ernakulam) 110 for seven in 19.4 overs.

Pre-quarterfinals: Muthoot Cricket Academy (Ernakulam) 131 for nine in 20 overs (K. A. Sreejith three for 23) lost to Pattara Swantons CC (Ernakulam) 132 for two in 12.2 overs (Abhishek Hegde 34); Masters CC (Thiruvananthapuram) 222 for four in 18 overs (P.V. Manikandan 116, Ali Asgar 47 n.o.) bt Aluva CC 109 for nine in 18 overs (M.E. Sanuth three for six, P.M. Anfal three for 19).
