Simmering discontent over selection of candidates has come to the fore BHUBANESWAR: Infighting in Balasore district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to the fore when the house of Kharavela Swain, the party’s candidate for Lok Sabha seat, was ransacked on Friday. About 100 party workers, appeared to be unhappy over ticket distribution, entered Mr. Swain’s house and damaged whatever they found. They also burnt the effigy of the BJP leader before fleeing the spot. “I know who carried out the shameful attack. They are from my own party,” Mr. Swain said. The attack took place in morning. He said miscreants damaged valuables. There was simmering discontentment among party workers over selection of some BJP leaders for Assembly seats. According to party sources, they held Mr. Swain responsible for certain decisions. Mr. Swain is not alone who had faced wrath of disgruntled party workers. Panchayati Raj Minister and Biju Janata Dal leader Raghunath Mohanty too faced similar attack a couple of days ago. Mr. Mohanty incidentally hailed from Balasore district. In Nilagiri under Balasore district, Kartik Mohapatra of Congress worker faced unpleasant situation when party workers allegedly burnt his effigy.
