THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) released a sum of Rs.308.70 crore for various cooperative development programmes in Kerala during 2008-09, the NCDC said in a press release here on Friday. This accounts for nearly 15 per cent of the total sum of Rs.2,032 crore the NCDC had given to the cooperative institutions in various States in the country. Major national cooperatives such as IFFCO and NAFED received Rs.1,500 crore from the NCDC during the year. Apex cooperativesIn Kerala, apex cooperatives Matsyafed and Consumerfed received Rs.9.7 crore and Rs.9 crore respectively. Kerala State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank received Rs.250 crore and Wayanad District Cooperative Bank Rs.15 crore as working capital loan. The NCDC also reimbursed an expense of Rs.8 crore incurred on integrated cooperative development programmes in the State during the year.
