Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has imposed a fine of Rs.60,000 on Oriental Insurance Company for filing wrong facts on oath relating to an insurance cover for a truck and opposing grant of compensation to the family of an accident victim involving the vehicle on that ground.
Imposing the fine, Justice J. R. Midha ordered that a copy of the judgment be sent to the chairman of the insurance company for compliance within four weeks.
Mr. Justice Midha also directed the company to file a compliance report after implementation of the judgment.
He directed the company to deduct the fine amount from the salary of the officer responsible for filing the wrong facts before the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal which heard the matter at the primary stage and later in the High Court.
