No problem: Corproation officials demonstrating the application of Electronic Voting Machine to the general public in Tirupur.
Tirupur: Training on handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for master trainers organsied by the Assistant Returning Officers at various Assembly segment-level commenced at the newly constituted Tirupur Parliamentary constituency on Friday.
Official sources said that the master trainers in turn would impart lessons they learnt to polling personnel on a later date.
Meanwhile, Corporation officials had established an EVM on the office premises to demonstrate its functioning to the public and explain to them how to cast their votes using the machine.
Additional forces
V. Santha, Returning Officer for Tirupur Constituency, told The Hindu that additional forces would be deployed at the 375 booths which had been identified ‘sensitive’ out of the 1,285 polling stations in the (Tirupur) constituency.
Of the 375 sensitive stations, 109 booths were under Tirupur North Assembly constituency, 93 under Tirupur South, 53 under Gobichettipalayam, 52 under Andhiyoor, 43 under Bhavani and 25 under Perundurai Assembly constituencies.
Digital cameras would be installed at the sensitive booths apart from carrying out micro-level surveillance.
