Soren’s son files nomination from Godda

Godda: In a surprise move, JMM president Shibu Soren’s son, Durga Soren, on Saturday filed his nomination papers from Godda Lok Sabha seat in jharkhand, despite the party having an understanding with the Congress on 12 seats in the state, including this prestigious constituency.

The Congress has already fielded sitting MP Furkan Ansari from the seat.

Mr. Durga was among the 11 candidates who submitted papers on Saturday, taking the total number of candidates to 26 for the Godda seat, the Returning Officer, Virendra Ram, said here.

After filing papers on the last date of nomination for the second phase polling, Mr. Durga Soren told reporters that he filed the papers to “avenge” his father’s defeat in the January eight Tamar Assembly poll.

The Congress and the JMM have understanding for 12 seats, including Godda, while the two are fighting friendly bouts in Hazaribag and Koderma.- PTI
