Avoidable trouble at SBI Padmaraonagar

On March 31 when I went to the State Bank of India, Padmaragonagar branch, to pay income tax, the bank officials asked me to produce a copy of PAN card along with voucher even though I wrote PAN number and SB account details of same branch. I requested the bank officials to accept the above details since it was the last day to pay IT to no avail.

However I enquired at another branch of the same bank and they readily accepted the same IT with out PAN xerox copy. Hence I request SBI authorities to explain why the same rule differs from branch to branch and also instruct the correct procedure to all the branches to avoid embarrassment in future.

Corporate hospital does U-turn

This refers to the news item “Kidney disease awareness drive” March 12, The Hindu. People desirous of free screening were asked to register their names in some government and corporate hospitals and the list included Kamineni Hospitals.

I registered my name in Kamineni Hospitals on March 5 and when I went for free screening, I was told that the camp was for consultation only and three tests other than screening were suggested at a 20 p.c. discount on the normal charges.

The hospital authorities said that they were unaware of such news report regarding free screening. Mere consultation without free screening will not serve the purpose.

Nano is here

At last the small car Nano is here and everybody is eager to buy it. Though the car is affordably priced, the rate of petrol is above Rs. 50 and how many can afford it is to be seen.

When it is reported in the media that Tatas are having a debt of Rs.One lakh crore, it is a big question that how can they continue with the production of this small car during the recession.
