Gold jewellery robbed

CHENNAI: Two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly robbed gold jewellery worth nearly Rs. 6.50 lakh from a salesman of a jewellery showroom in Royapuram on Saturday.

According to Kasimedu police the victim Prakash (25), of Tondiarpet, is employed with a jewellery showroom in Sowcarpet.

On Saturday evening, his employer had asked him to take over 400 grams of gold jewellery to another showroom in the same area.

The owner of the other showroom did not like the design.

When Prakash was returning to the showroom where he was employed with the jewellery, two men intercepted him on Tandavarayan Street in Royapuram and robbed him, police said.

Based on a complaint lodged by Prakash, police have registered a case.
