Train hits tipper that breaks down on track

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Train services got disrupted for some time after a passenger train rammed into a tipper laden with sand after it broke down on the railway track near Shamshabad on city outskirts on Sunday.

Fortunately, no one was injured even as some passersby were trying to push the tipper when the accident occurred.

Escapes

The driver jumped out of the tipper to save his life on seeing the approaching train and fled the spot.

According to Shamshabad Inspector, S. Ravichandra, the tipper hired by a ring road contractor broke down on the track at a railway level crossing around 4 p.m.

Trains delayed

Even as the locals and passersby tried to push it, the Kachiguda-Guntur passenger train smashed into the tipper dragging it for over 10 yards. Several trains got delayed as shifting the tipper took a couple of hours.
