Election Commission shifts returning officer of Araku constituency
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Election Commission on Saturday shifted the returning officer (RO) of Araku (ST) Parliamentary constituency B. Anand Mohan, now serving as project officer of Paderu-based Integrated Tribal Development Agency, for negligence of duty and launched disciplinary proceedings against him.
The case against him is that Mr. Anand Mohan filled an unnecessary form and sent it to the EC, stating that the polling in the constituency was over although there are 11 candidates in the fray, Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao disclosed here on Saturday night.
In his place, N. Vishnu, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority, has been posted to function as Returning Officer of the constituency.
The CEO also said new Deputy Superintendents of Police would be posted to Jammalamadugu, Puttaparthi and Jangareddygudem divisions shortly.
A. B. Venkateswara Rao would be posted as Inspector-General, Visakhapatnam, in place of the present incumbent who was unwell. Similarly, the present DIG of Guntur, would be relieved of his election duty as he suffered a bereavement in his family.
