A learning experience

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It was a good learning experience for the members of the Sherbone School from United Kingdom who are in Kerala as part of their cricket development programme.

The 14-member team (all players are in the age group of 13 and 17), accompanied by three staff members, arrived in the city on March 29. They played a few matches with local sides City Cricketers, Renji CC and Loyola Cricket Academy.

The hot, humid weather, lack of basic facilities and poor outfields in the venues (Agriculture College ground, Medical College ground and LNCPE) were some of the problems confronting the visitors. However, they took it in their stride and got to the business of playing cricket.

Captain Gibbs Thomas felt that the tour would surely help in grooming their career. The team will return to home on April 8 after playing a couple of Twenty20 matches against Alappuzha XI and City Cricketers on Tuesday. — Principal Correspondent
