Another policeman dies on the road Crime notes

BANGALORE: A 24-year-old police constable, attached to the Vidhana Soudha security, died on the spot when a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus ran over him in front of the Yellamma Dasappa Hospital near Town Hall here on Monday. The Ulsoor Gate Traffic police said V. Vasanth, a native of Guddadahalli village of Honnali taluk in Davangere, and three others were trying get into the running bus when the driver closed the automatic doors but lost their balance and fell. While the others had a miraculous escape, Vasanth was run over, said the police.

Driver Srinivas was arrested and the bus seized.

Bail granted

Syeeda Ameena (30), the dentist and who was in news for allegedly cutting off her friend’s genitals last year, was granted bail here on Monday.

Dr. Ameena was charged with drugging fellow dentist Meer Harshad Ali at her Koramangala clinic before mutilating him on November 29, 2008.

Later she admitted Dr. Ali to a private hospital and fled.
