Laptops with pickle?

Karnataka’s former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a potshot at the BJP’s poll plank the other day in Kolar. Addressing a Congress rally attended by thousands, he referred to the BJP’s promise that every family would be provided a laptop if it was voted to power, and asked: “Can you eat the laptop applying pickle to it?” This sarcastic remark from the Congress leader evoked laughter from the audience. They cheered and shouted ‘no, no’. The Congress’ poll promise that poor families would be supplied rice at Rs 3 per kg showed the party’s commitment to the welfare of the poor, Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
