Fire destroys 2 houses

METTUR: Two houses were destroyed in a fire accident in Kavery Nagar here on Monday night. No one sustained injuries in the accident.
Sources said people in the colony noticed fire engulfing a portion of the house with thatched roof, belonging to one Gunasekar, and heard the aged woman staying in it screaming for help.
They rushed to the spot and rescued the woman. Meanwhile, the flames also spread to the nearby house belonging to Yakub.
Residents alerted the fire and rescue service personnel, who put out the fire after struggling for about an hour.
Goods worth about Rs. 3 lakh were destroyed in the fire.
Further investigation is on in the case.
