Congress, TDP activists clash forcing the police to open fire in the air

KADAPA: Police opened fire in the air in Machanur village in Pendlimarry mandal of Kamalapuram Assembly constituency on Wednesday evening when Congress and Telugu Desam Party functionaries clashed and pelted stones causing injuries to some persons including policemen. Trouble brewed when Congressmen reportedly obstructed the campaign of Krishna Chaitanya Reddy, son of Putha Narasimha Reddy, Telugu Desam Party candidate for Kamalapuram Assembly segment and heated exchanges led to intense stone pelting. Some Congress and TDP activists and some policemen sustained injuries. The police brought the situation under control by opening fire in the air. Additional police force was rushed to the tension-gripped village.
