Maoists attack security forces in Garwah

Garwah (Jharkhand): Armed Maoists attacked a make-shift CRPF camp at Ranpura in Garwah district, but failed to inflict any damage as the security forces beat them back on Wednesday .

Nearly 50 Maoists surrounded a middle school, where the CRPF personnel were camping, and fired about 200 rounds from all sides, police said here.

The rebels, however, retreated following the strong retaliatory action by the CRPF men, the police said. There was no loss of life on any side.

This was the first time the Maoists directly challenged the security forces. — PTI
