Belgaum: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer J. Ravishankar said notices will be issued to Suresh C. Angadi and Ramesh V. Katti, BJP contestants in Belgaum and Chikkodi Lok Sabha constituency, for not obtaining permission on the use of vehicles for their party’s election meeting held at the District Stadium in Belgaum on Tuesday. A large number of vehicles were engaged to transport people for the election meeting addressed by BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L.K. Advani, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Mr. Angadi, Mr. Katti, Minister for Cooperation Laxman Savadi and Minister for Municipal Administration Balachandra L. Jarkiholi. Several other leaders, including legislators and Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar B. Kore, were present. He told The Hindu here on Wednesday that over 250 vehicles were engaged to transport people from different areas in the two constituencies. But, no permission was obtained from the election authorities. Dr. Ravishankar said notices will also be issued to the vehicle owners through the Regional Transport Officer. He said the two BJP candidates would be asked to submit the details of expenditure incurred on arranging the meeting.
