Arrives by helicopter two hours behind schedule TDP rule comes under severe criticism MACHERLA: Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy, conducted a whirlwind tour of the Palnadu region on Thursday, enthusing the congress party cadre and boosting the chances of Congress candidate contesting in the Assembly segments of Macherla, Gurajala, Narsaraopet and Sattenapalli. Mr. Reddy arrived by helicopter from Ongole two hours behind schedule at Macherla to a tumultuous welcome from enthusiastic party supporters and youth congress activists. He was received by Agricultutal Market Committee chairman Lella Appi Rreddy, MLAs P. Laxma Reddy, Janga Krishnamurthy, Mopdevi Venkata Ramana, MP V. Balashourie and district Youth Congress president Dasari Kiran Kumar. Rousing welcomeThe star campaigner of the party was accorded a rousing welcome with partymen showering floral petals and taking him in procession to the main town centre at Macherla. Addressing a well attended roadshow, Mr. Reddy appealed to the people to vote for the Congress and ensure that the development and welfare schemes launched by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy continue to benefit large sections of the poor and women. Reminding the people about the benefit of old age pension schemes, Indiramma housing schemes, Rajiv Arogya Sri, he asked the people to support the Congress. The tail pond scheme which has a potential to generate hydro-electricity and provide water for irrigational purposes would change the face of the region, he pointed out Launching a scathing attack on the Telugu Desam and Praja Rajyam parties, he asked the people to compare the nine years of misrule of the TDP government and the five years of good governance by the Congress . Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu who is now talking of giving freebies, had never thought of implementing welfare for the poor during his tenure, he said. Mr. Reddy addressed roadshows at Macherla, Rentachintala, Gurajala, Khambampadu and Piduguralla town before diverting to Nakerikallu and Narsaraopet town before reaching Guntur late in the night.
