The assets declared in affidavits filed by contestants don’t indicate over what period these assets have been acquired. In most cases, the value of their assets exceeded one crore rupees. How they could acquire so much money when senior government officials cannot acquire such huge amount even after working for 35-40 years? The Election Commission should examine these cases and declare that the candidates don’t deserve a ticket for contesting elections. K.
