Ketamine seized

CHENNAI: Customs officials at the Chennai airport on Wednesday night seized 15 kg of Ketamine Hydrochloride from the courier terminal here. The drug was kept concealed in a parcel meant for export to Malaysia.

C. Rajan, Commissioner of Customs (Imports), Seaport, who is holding additional charge as Commissioner of Customs (Airport), said the authorities on suspicion intercepted the consignment. The contents were declared as ‘Paper mesh Gods’. A close examination revealed that a cavity was specially created at the bottom portion of the box, which had three polythene bags with white crystalline powder. Analysis of the powder revealed that it was Ketamine Hydrochloride.
