MAHABUBNAGAR: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday gave a call to the people to throw out Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the coming elections and send him to Idupulapaya estate, to safeguard the State. Addressing an impressive public meeting, the second one organised jointly by the four-party Grand Alliance here, Mr. Naidu said protecting the State and its resources should be the primary task of the people. “We should stop this unprecedented corruption and plunder by the Congress leaders by defeating them in the elections.” He exuded confidence of the Grand Alliance not only forming the next government in the State but playing key role in bringing to power the Third Front government in New Delhi. As soon as it comes to power in the State, it would take all the necessary steps for the formation of the separate Telangana, he said amid loud cheers from the crowd. Mr. Naidu said special measures would be taken for the government employees, conceding their demands relating to fitment formula of salaries, Pay Revision Commission and house sites. Five-day-a-week work schedule was also aimed at giving them relief. In a specific reference to problems faced by people of the district, he promised to solve all of them. TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, speaking in Telugu and Urdu, said the Chief Minister owed an explanation on how his family owned Rs. 10,000-crore worth industries in the State and Rs. 60,000-crore worth power plants across the country during the last five years. He recalled that Dr. Reddy had declared before the Election Commission that he had debts of Rs. 34 lakh before 2004 Assembly elections. Questioning the development and Jalayagnam schemes of the Congress government, he said migration continued from Mahabubnagar, while fluorosis problem remained unresolved in Nalgonda. Lambada women continued to sell their babies. “Telangana will become a reality under Telugu Desam-led alliance’s government. This will happen only if we bury the Congress,” he said amidst thunderous applause. State CPI secretary K. Narayana asked people to defeat Congress and its anti-people policies. He wanted all the four partners to work together setting aside their differences for the success of the Grand Alliance.
