MCC ‘A’, Besant Nagar ‘A’ in title clash

Chennai: MCC ‘A’ and Besant Nagar ‘A’ booked places in the final of the Sanmar-TNTA city club tennis league ‘A’ zone, beating Egmore Tennis Club and NTC ‘A’ in their respective semifinals.

The results (semifinals): Besant Nagar ‘A’ bt NTC ‘A’ 3-2 (Ajay Selvaraj bt Mohit Mayur 6-3, 7-5; Ashwin Nambi lost to Ramkumar 0-6, 7-5, 3-6; Abhinav Subramanian & Murtaza Lohan lost to Ratheesh Sridhar & Johnson 5-7, 6-3, 2-6; Ajay & Narendran bt Vikram & D. Madhan 6-2, 6-1; Rishi Sridhar & S. Anant-Subramanian duo wins

N. Anant and R.V. Subramanian won the weekly pairs event at the T. Nagar Social Club here recently with a score of 65.71 per cent playing East-West.

Satish shines

K. Sathish’s 48 helped Sairam College of Engineering beat Vel’s Srinivasa Engineering College by seven wickets in the SSN Rolling Cricket Trophy here recently.

The scores: Vel’s Srinivasa EC 102 for six (Rajarun 43 n.o.) lost to Sairam College of Engineering 103 for three in 13.3 overs (K. Sathish 48); Sri Venkateswar EC 152 for seven (Balachandar 27, Srikkanth 67) lost toVIT University 153 for seven in 19.4 overs (Snehal Deshpande 27, Achuthan 40, Rushil Nori 26 n.o.).

State u-11 chess

The 22nd State under-11 chess championship will be organised by the Elite Club of Chess at Ponna Gounder Kalyana Mandapam, Neikarapatti P.O., Kondalampatti, Salem, from April 21 to 27.

The prize money is Rs. 15,000 (boys: Rs.7,500 and girls: Rs.7,500).

Coaching camps

The Madras Christian College School Sports Academy is conducting a summer coaching camp in football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, hockey, badminton, swimming and cricket. The camp is from April 11 to 30.

The Ambattur Badminton Association will conduct its summer camp (residential and non-residential) from April 20 to May 9 at the Kamalam John Samuel indoor stadium, No 1, Taluk Office road, Ambattur.
