CPI’s loss is Congress’s gain

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: Some four hundred families of the CPI followers at Bahujan Nagar here, joined the Congress on Friday.

Kadapa MLA Mohd. Ahmedullah, District Congress Committee president K. Suresh Babu, and Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy admitted Venkatesh and others who were expelled from the CPI into the Congress fold.

Addressing a meeting at Bahujan Nagar, Mr. Suresh Babu called upon the people not to be misled by the Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s impractical promises, like cash transfer scheme and colour televisions . TDP has been canvassing through film actors Balakrishna and NTR junior to fool people, he alleged.

Public’s future would be bleak if they vote for the Grand Alliance partners, Mr. Suresh Babu cautioned. Praja Rajyam was being deserted by the senior leaders and it was proved that its ‘social justice’ slogan was farcical.

Plea

Mr. Ravindranath Reddy appealed to the people to re-elect the Congress for another term, as his Government strived for the welfare of the poor.

Mr. Ahmedullah also spoke.
