Reports baseless, says DGP

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Director General of Police (DGP) has described as baseless reports that the ADGP, Northern Range, had asked police officers to take action in the event of violence in and around polling booths only after getting a written complaint from the presiding officer. An official press note said here on Friday that the Northern Range ADGP had not given any such direction. The DGP asserted that stringent action would be taken against violence. Strong security arrangements had been made in the vicinity of all polling stations, he said. — Special Correspondent
