Follow poll guidelines, says Collector

DINDIGUL: All political parties should follow election guidelines properly and cooperate with officials in conducting free and fair elections. Filing of nomination will commence on April 17, said Collector R. Kirlosh Kumar.

Addressing an all party meeting held here on Saturday, he said: Candidates who wish to file nominations will be allowed to take only three vehicles with them. Similarly, not more than five persons will be allowed to accompany him at the time of filing nominations.

A barricade will be erected 100 metres away from the Collectorate. Only three vehicles with the candidate will be allowed to go beyond this point.

Additional Superintendent of Police will be the nodal officer. Cases will be registered against persons or candidates violating EC guidelines, he cautioned.

On advertisement through television channels and Cable TV network, he advised parties to submit a copy of the advertisement CD to election office three days in advance for prior certification. Personal Assistant to Collector (General) will be nodal officer.

To prepare a flawless voter list, district election office has prepared a list of voters who were dead, absent or shifted their residence. Over 10,000 voters were in the list.
